Box Office: "Planet of the Apes" Edges Out "The Help"

Continuing to conquer its theatrical competition, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" held its grasp atop the box office over the weekend of August 12-14, 2011.

The James Franco/Freida Pinto starring origins-based picture pulled in an estimated $7.8 million on Friday while looking at a $26 million take during it's second weekend of release.

Posting solid numbers for a second place effort thus far is Emma Stone's new movie "The Help" - with the slave era book-based film hot on the trails of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" with $7.5 million in ticket sales on Friday with a projected second weekend total of $22 million.

Rounding out the top five at the box office this weekend are "Final Destination 5" ($18 million), followed by "30 Minutes or Less" ($13 million) and "The Smurfs 3D" ($13 million).

Meanwhile, another box office newcomer, "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie," made its theatrical debut with a $3.7 million opening day with an estimated $7 million weekend total - which was good enough to take the sixth spot.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s "Ringer" Beach Shoot

Working hard on the set of her latest project, Sarah Michelle Gellar was spotted filming scenes her new CW show,"Ringer" in Los Angeles, California on Friday evening (August 12).

Wearing an over-sized pair of shades and nude-colored sweater, the former "Buffy" star hit the beach, where she was seen tossing a phone, letter and set of clothes into a nearby fire.

As for why Sarah decided to head back onto the small screen, she recently told E! News, "It was such a train I couldn't get off of and stop and appreciate."

After bowing out of show business for a lengthy two-year hiatus, she says it's great to start up again, as she explained, "I don't know about 'ready'…but we're having the best time. It just doesn't feel like a job. Which is how it should be when everything is right."

Victoria Justice Lights Up the 26th Annual Imagen Awards

Lighting up the red carpet, Victoria Justice made her way to the 2011 Imagen Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on in Beverly Hills, California last night (August 12).

The 18-year-old "Victorious" star, who presented alongside actress Bella Thorne, took to the annual event in a stunning silver Katharine Kidd dress paired with black peep-toe pumps, a Lauren Merkin clutch and Phillip Press and Soffer Ari jewelry.

Looking forward to her evenings plans, Victoria took to her Twitter, writing, "Presenting tonight at the Imagen Awards. On my way... I'm excited."

Giving a shoutout to her gal pal and fellow attendee, Justice added, "Hanging out at the Imagen Awards with my lovely date to my right, & @alexavega & her sister Makenzie."

Celebrating the joyous occasion with the family, bikini-clad Brooke and David hit up the white sand beaches with 4-year-old daughter Heaven and 3-year-old son Shaya on Friday (August 12).

39-year-old Burke, who has two older children from a previous marriage, showed off her enviable form as she took to the water in a barely-there orange and brown suit.

The casually-clad mom and dad, who are currently residing in the posh neighborhood of Richmond, took Zahara, Pax, Shiloh and Maddox to the UK bike store to look for a shiny new set of wheels.

Meanwhile, Angelina has opened up about her first try at writing and directing a movie, the romance flick, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," telling Entertainment Weekly, "I've always said other people's words in my life. I had never written anything. So to sit down and put words on paper was terrifying, because it was so personal."

The film, due out December 23, centers on a "couple whose romance is affected by the Bosnian War."

Back in the States after a fun-filled trip to her native Barbados, Rihanna stepped out for dinner at Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, CA on Friday night (August 12).

The "Whats My Name" singer opted for a natural look as she emerged from the restaurant with natural curls pulled back into a high ponytail while going make-up free for the relaxing evening on the town.

The dinner outing comes just after Rihanna was praised by the city of Tuscaloosa - with the locale saying that the Rihanna Benefit Concert in Birmingham brought in a total of $89,000 for the Tuscaloosa Storm Recovery Fund.

City of Tuscaloosa's Liaison for Private Development, Kristen Love, said in a statement, "We are truly grateful for Rihanna and her team for this amazing contribution to the City of Tuscaloosa. This donation will certainly help the long-term recovery effort as we continue to move Tuscaloosa forward."

Offering up another look at what's to come, the second trailer for the upcoming film "Abduction" has just been released.

The highly anticipated action/drama finds Taylor Lautner's branch out from his Jacob Black "Twilight" role while co-starring Lily Collins.

The much-awaited flick is "based on a young man who sets out to uncover the truth about his life after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website."

Directed by John Singleton and written by Shawn Christensen, "Abduction" is set to hit theaters on September 23, 2011.

Tina Fey Welcomes Baby Penelope Athena!

Welcoming another member to the family, Tina Fey gave birth to her second child on Wednesday (August 10).

The "30 Rock" actress and her husband, composer Jeffrey Richmond, are now the proud parents of a healthy baby girl named Penelope Athena.

Penelope joins Tina and Jeffrey's 5-year-old sister Alice, with Miss Fey's rep confirming the joyous news on Friday (August 12).

During her pregnancy, 41-year-old Fey said that the second time around was "easy" while telling that she and her husband wanted to wait to find out the gender, as she explained, "I'm just going to see what it chooses to wear to prom."
