Samantha Ronson: Recovering from Run-In with Car

She was involved in a bad accident over the weekend, but luckily Samantha Ronson is going to be alright.

The celebrity deejay posted a picture of herself on Twitter earlier today (April 11) and - based on the photo - she's certainly pretty banged up.

Apparently, Ms Ronson was riding her bike home from a gig at The Brig in Los Angeles early Saturday morning when a car came out of nowhere and struck her.

Sam was rushed to the hospital to get stitches and, although she seems to be recovering nicely, she decided to cancel a show in Utah just to be safe.

Steve Carell Gets Supersized NBC Sendoff

His final episode is coming up at the end of the month, and NBC has an extended version lined up to send off Steve Carell.

On April 28th, "The Office" will say goodbye to the Michael Scott actor with an episode airing from 9-9:50 p.m (ET).

Carell's departure comes after more than six-and-a-half seasons and was set in motion by the conclusion of the show's last original episode, which aired back on March 24.

During the season capping installments, Will Ferrell will join the show as a character named Deangelo Vickers and will serve as Carell's temporary replacement.

Menghindarkan anak-anak dan ibu hamil dari paparan asap rokok di lingkungan merupakan hal penting dalam upaya mencegah anak dari ancaman penyakit.

Studi terbaru yang digagas Frank Bandiera dari University of Miami Miller School of Medicine menunjukkan, paparan asap rokok di lingkungan (second handsmoke) dapat meningkatkan risiko anak-anak mengalami depresi dan gangguan perilaku termasuk hiperaktif.

Penelitian ini memperkuat bukti bahwa anak-anak dari seorang ibu yang merokok semasa hamil berpotensi mengalami masalah gangguan perilaku. Paparan asap rokok juga berkaitan dengan gangguan kesehatan lainnya seperti penyakit pernapasan dan jantung pada anak-anak.

"Sudah saatnya untuk mencegah anak-anak terpapar asap," kata Dr. Bruce Lanphear, kepala Children's Environmental Health Center di Cincinnati, Amerika Serikat.

"Bukti sudah cukup untuk mencegah penyakit-penyakit yang disebutkan, sayangnya hal itu tidak kita lakukan," tambah Lanphear yang tidak terlibat dalam studi.

Bandiera dalam studinya melibatkan sekitar 3.000 anak berusia antara 8 hingga 15 tahun. Kadar kotinin -  yang terbentuk setelah nikotin terurai  – dalam tubuh anak-anak diukur. Anak-anak yang kadar kotininnya sangat tinggi dianggap sebagai perokok aktif, sehingga  tidak dilibatkan dalam studi. Hasil penelitian ini dimuat dalam Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.

Setelah memperhitungkan sejumlah faktor seperti usia dan ras, peneliti menemukan bahwa anak laki-laki yang terpapar asap rokok memiliki kecenderungan menunjukkan gejala hiperaktif, depresi, kecemasan, dan gangguan perilaku lainnya. Sedangkan anak perempuan yang terpapar asap rokok  hanya menunjukkan gejala hiperaktif dan kecemasan.

Walau begitu, jumlah anak yang didiagnosa positif mengalami kelainan tersebut rendah. Hanya ditemukan 201 anak atau sekitar 7 persen anak  yang dinggap layak didiagnosa  positif ADHD, 15 anak lainnya positif mengidap depresi dan 9 anak mengalami gangguan kecemasan

Para peneliti mengakui, memang sulit untuk memisahkan dampak paparan asap rokok dari kondisi atau kelainan yang disebabkan oleh ibu hamil yang merokok saat masa kehamilan.

Dalam komentar yang dilampirkan dalam riset ini, Dr. Jonathan Samet dari Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California menyatakan pentingnya dilakukan studi lebih jauh untuk menentukan bagaimana sebenarnya paparan asap rokok dapat memengaruhi otak bayi.

Bandiera juga mencatat bahwa studi ini tidak dapat membuntikan bahwa paparan asap menyebaban gangguan mental dan perilaku . Tetapi untuk saat ini, para orang tua sebaiknya menjauhkan  anak-anak mereka dari paparan asap rokok.

Lanphear menegaskan, meski saat ini belum ada bukti definitif yang mengaitkan paparan asap rokok di udara (secondhand smoke) dengan gangguan mental, akan sangat mengejutkan bila tidak ditemukan hubungan di antara keduanya.

The "Zoolander" actress looked to be taking a break from filming as she had a cigarette break outside on the lot.

Milla also enjoyed a surprise visit from her husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who ended up sticking around until she was off and taking her home.

"Bad Luck" is about a group of friends who find their lives changed when the superstitions they don't believe in begin to come true.

Kevin & Danielle Jonas: Steakhouse Lovers

Enjoying a romantic dinner out, Kevin Jonas and his lovely wife Danielle were spotted at the Council Oak Steakhouse last night (April 10).

The "Lovebug" rocker and his lady posed for pictures with a personally engraved steak knife they received at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino eatery.

Kevin is also featured in a new Motor Trend report about his participation in the upcoming Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race of Long Beach.

Of his practice run, Kevin told press, "It was a lot of fun, very intense. I definitely started getting more used to the car. It's a lot of fun finding certain lines you're supposed to take, braking when you're supposed to."

Dennis Quaid Calls Cocaine Addiction His "Greatest Mistake"

Speaking out for the first time about what he calls his "greatest mistake," Dennis Quaid revealed details about his prior cocaine addiction that threatened to wreck his career.

The "Dragonheart" star told Newsweek that he began taking the drug in 1974 and continued using it into the 80s, saying, "Cocaine was even in the budgets of movies, thinly disguised. It was petty cash, you know? It was supplied, basically, on movie sets because everyone was doing it. People would make deals. Instead of having a cocktail, you'd have a line."

The 57-year-old, who was formerly married to Meg Ryan, said his addiction became so bad he could only start the day by snorting a line of the drug, and that he realized one night that he was "going to be dead in five years" if he didn't seek help.

Dennis went on to say tell that, although it was a tough battle, his struggle has made him into the actor he is today. "It was one of those times when you think, 'Well, if I do the right thing and clean up my life, it‚ I'll get better.' No, it got worse! In 1990 I did 'Wilder Napalm,' which came out and went down the tubes. But that time in my life‚ those years in the in '90s recovering‚ actually chiseled me into a person ... If I hadn't gone through that period, I don't know if I'd still be acting."

An inside source told press, "Spike realizes he made a huge mistake leaving Michelle and he desperately wants her back."

Kimberly Stewart: Preggers with Benicio del Toro’s Baby!

They're not actually an item, but that's not stopping Kimberly Stewart and Benicio Del Toro from having a baby together.

The daughter of Rod Stewart is reportedly carrying the "Usual Suspects" actor's child, his rep confirmed.

Robin Baum told press, "Kimberly is Pregnant. Benicio is the father and is very supportive. Although they are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby."

Stewart is 31 years old and was recently linked to both Jude Law and Rhys Ifans. Benicio turned 44 in February.
